Sherman Armstrong Changed My Team's Perspective on Life
"Sherman Armstrong coming to speak with my players was the highlight of the year for our program so far! My players were able to learn so much from him in just one hour. One part of Sherman's interactive talk that stood out to my players was the portion of the talk that focused on mastery. Sherman explained to my players that in order to master a skill, you need to put in maximum effort, constantly learn, and understand that mistakes are okay. The majority of my players are new to the sport of basketball, and they would often become disappointed if they messed up on the basketball court. Sherman's talk showed these girls how important it is to view mistakes as learning opportunities.
I will make sure my players learn to celebrate mistakes and grow as opposed to focusing on the failed attempt.
